Tiger Armor Thickness

These Tiger I and Tiger II armor thickness diagrams were included in a confidential SHAEF intelligence publication on German tanks in October 1944:

    The Tiger I turret armor was actually 80mm armor plate, so 82 mm must be a measuring error or tolerance issue. The Tiger I roof plate was 25 mm and later increased to 40 mm.

    It’s tolerance. The German specifications say 80mm, but the steel mill can’t be so precise. The Army inspector will accept it oversize but not undersize.
