"New German 7.92 mm MG 43" from Tactical and Technical Trends

The following brief article was published in Tactical and Technical Trends, No. 47, June 1, 1944.

Some general details only have been reported thus far about the introduction of a new German machine gun -- 7.92-mm Model 43.

It appears to be basically similar to the MG 42 (see Tactical and Technical Trends No. 31, p. 37), but lighter -- a weight of 18 pounds has been mentioned -- and with an even higher rate of fire. The charging handle is said to be vertical instead of horizontal as in the MG 42.
