WWII Photo Feature 35: 3rd Tank Battalion, 10th Armored Division
This section features documents and photographs from our personal collection of WWII historical material. As time permits, new feature pages will be added with additional photographs and documents.

These two photographs from our collection show tanks and crewmen from the 3rd Tank Battalion, 10th Armored Division during training in Georgia.

The 10th Armored ("Tiger") Division was originally activated at Fort Benning, Georgia in July 1942. In the summer of 1943, the division participated in the Tennessee maneuvers, after which the division returned to Georgia to Camp Gordon.

Although partially obscured by mud, the M4 carries the markings of the 3rd Tank Bn. (10Δ  3Δ) on the lower front plate. Both crewmen wear the M-1938 tanker helmet with goggles to protect against the southern dust and mud.
