Sturmgeschütz III covers the German Sturmgeschütz III assault gun versions from 1940-1942 which were armed with the "short" 75mm Stu.K. L/24. This volume covers the design, development, technical features, performance and combat use of the Sturmgeschütz III assault guns. The Sturmgeschützvariants covered are the Ausf. A through Ausf. E. Three combat reports are included detailing tactics and operational use, along with excerpts from the German Sturmartillerie manual.

Sturmgeschütz III includes 31 photos, 1 wartime tank chart, 7 scale drawings and 7 color plates. The color plates are: (i) Versuchsserie s. Pak. and Sturmgeschütz Ausf. A of Grossdeutschland, (ii) Sturmgeschütz Ausf. A and Sturmgeschütz Ausf. B of Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 192; (iii) Sturmgeschütz Ausf. D; (iv) Sturmgeschütz Ausf. B cutaway; (v) Sturmgeschütz Ausf. D of Sonder Verband 288; (vi) Sturmgeschütz Ausf. E of Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 249; and (vii) Sturmgeschütz Ausf. E of Sturmgeschütz-Abteilung 197. The black-and-white photos are primarily chosen for technical details, and many of the photos will be familiar to readers.
