Below are a few photographs from Follow Thru, the unit history of the 60th Infantry Regiment which was published by the unit during occupation duty in Germany. The 60th Infantry “Go Devils” served as part of the 9th Infantry Division.

In the picture of “Soldiers of the 60th with a captured German 120-mm heavy mortar (12cm GrW 42).” is not 120mm mortar. It is either 81mm or 82mm mortar. Most likely 81mm mortar.
That most certainly IS a GrW 42- note the diameter of the barrel is at least a hand width- 120mm. Also, the mortar has the chracteristic roud baseplate, towing wheels, and tow hitch of the 12cm.
I agree with Observer — round plate means a 12cm heavy mortar. It was a copy of the Russian heavy mortars.
What kind of vehicle is that towing the antitank gun (the 2nd picture from the top). It does not look like a truck or halftrack.
The vehicle is a Radschlepper Ost — you can recognize the pattern in the tires. Not sure the back is blown off the Radschlepper Ost or which version it is.

Ma mère a travaillé en 1944 au château de Cherbourg Octeville, elle a connu fin juin un officier us (adjudant) IL se nommait Joseph LAURENT?
Aujourd’hui grâce au NPRC de St Louis dans le Missouri j’ai obtenu des renseignements sur les Joseph LAURENT venus en France en 1944, sur 22 ils étaient 12 a être en possibilités d’avoir participé à la libération et ce dans différentes division. Ce qui me laisse croire que selon ma mère et le NPRC qu ‘il y a bien eu un Joseph LAURENT à la libération de Cherbourg, je n’arrive pas à trouver de listing de cette division, peut être avez vous ce renseignement. Il est rentré aux USA en décembre 1945.
