The Battle of the Omars
Military Intelligence Service, Information Bulletin No. 11, April 15, 1942

The Battle of the Omars marked the beginning of the British drive into Cyrenaica against Rommel's Afrika Corps. The offensive began November 1941 and terminated at El Agheila in January 1942. The battle involved the use of all arms by a force comparable to that of a U.S. reinforced regiment. The excellent opportunities offered to the observers and the complete nature of their reports make possible a detailed study of desert warfare. The bulletin was based on reports of American official observers and on British orders used in the battle.
